Why an 8-Week SAT Math Plan Works
The digital SAT Math section tests four content areas: algebra, advanced math, problem-solving and data analysis, and geometry. With consistent practice over eight weeks, most students can raise their math score by 80 to 150 points.
Digital SAT Math Format
Two 35-minute modules, 22 questions each. The test is adaptive — performance on module 1 determines module 2 difficulty. A calculator (Desmos or approved physical) is allowed throughout.

Week 1: Diagnostic Test
Take a full-length digital practice test (College Board Bluebook or Khan Academy). Score it, categorise every wrong answer by content area, and create a mistake log tracking errors and their reasons.
Week 2: Algebra Foundations
Study linear equations, systems of equations, inequalities, and function notation. Practice translating word problems into equations. Complete 30–40 practice questions.
Week 3: Advanced Math
Master quadratic equations (factoring, quadratic formula), graphing parabolas, polynomial operations, and exponent rules. Complete 30–40 practice questions.
Week 4: Problem-Solving and Data Analysis
Study ratios, percentages, probability, mean/median/mode, and reading charts. Practice real-world word problems under time pressure.
Week 5: Geometry and Trigonometry
Review area and volume formulas, angle relationships, Pythagorean theorem, special right triangles, and basic trigonometry (SOHCAHTOA).
Week 6: Mixed Practice and Timed Drills
Complete two timed 35-minute modules. Review all errors. Practice using the Desmos calculator efficiently — graphing, solving systems, finding intersections.
Week 7: Full-Length Practice Tests
Take two full-length practice tests under real conditions. Review every mistake for at least 90 minutes after each test. Update your mistake log.
Week 8: Final Review
Review your mistake log, re-do previously missed questions, take one final timed module, and rest well before test day.
SAT Math Test Day Tips
- Use Desmos wisely — it can solve systems and graph functions
- Flag and move on — don't spend more than 90 seconds on any question
- Read carefully — "must be true" differs from "could be true"
- Check answers with a different method if time permits
